My mum has been at me to get a new car for quite some time. I know what your’re thinking; “aren’t you a little old to be dancing to beat of your Mum’s drum?” Nah, I’m a good boy and does what my mum asks me to do.
So I got a new car. Well not quite new. It was new in 1975.
Now it’s well worn in. Moby is his name and he’s a 1975 VW Kombi often referred to as a ‘Bay’ in reference to the bay front window. He’s got a 2l motor and a pop top for camping. The interior is shot and needs an overhaul but for now, Moby will provide a pretty good base to get a taste for kombi life.
Speaking of getting a taste for kombi life, 3 days after buying it from owner Aaron, we travelled to Geelong for our first VW gathering: ReVolks.
Kombi’s and VeeDubbs everywhere along with the wide variety of people from all walks of life who love these quirky vehicles. Tianna and Denise have been plotting and planning a weekend getaway vehicle for years and then Moby came along. We’re not quite sure where and what it will lead to but the journey is sure to be an interesting one.
